About the Client

The client is a UK-based e-commerce operator running separate B2C and B2B storefronts, both sitting on top of the same vendor, invoicing, and fulfillment backend. That shared foundation meant a failure in one place could just as easily break an order in the other — and the operator needed a way to catch that before it happened, not after a customer noticed something had silently gone wrong between checkout and fulfillment.

The Challenge

The operator came to Aegis Softtech with two portals that looked independent on the surface but broke in the same places underneath. A handful of underlying issues kept surfacing across the engagement.

  • Silent Order Failures: Orders failed somewhere between the portals and the shared backend without triggering any visible error, so nobody knew a failure had happened until a customer did.
  • Integration Gaps Between Portals: B2C and B2B ran as separate front ends, but both depended on the same vendor, invoicing, and fulfillment systems underneath — and nothing tested how they actually interacted.
  • No Cross-System Visibility: Engineering had no consistent way to see where a failure originated once an order crossed from one system into another.
  • Errors Reaching Customers First: Issues typically surfaced as a customer complaint rather than an internal alert, meaning the team was always reacting after the fact instead of catching problems early.

The Solution

We built testing coverage around every point where the two portals touched the shared backend, so failures surfaced internally before a customer ever saw one. Each part of the engagement addressed a specific gap identified in the requirement phase.

End-to-End API Testing

Aegis Softtech built API tests covering every touchpoint between the B2C portal, the B2B portal, and the shared vendor, invoicing, and fulfillment systems underneath both.

Regression Testing Framework

We implemented regression testing that runs against both portals together, catching failures that only showed up when changes to one system affected the other.

Cross-System Failure Visibility

Engineering now gets visibility into exactly where an order failed — portal, integration layer, or backend — instead of piecing it together after a customer already noticed.

Silent Failure Detection

Testing now catches the kind of failures that used to pass through without triggering any error, closing the gap that let problems reach customers undetected.

Ongoing Test Coverage Support

The Aegis Softtech team maintained and expanded test coverage as the portals evolved, so new features didn't quietly reopen gaps that had already been closed.
