About the Client
The client is a multi-region retail and CPG group running frequent, time-sensitive marketing campaigns across e-commerce and in-store channels.
The Challenge
Marketing wasn't short on ideas. It was short on a way to act on them without going through someone else first.
- IT-Gated Journey Creation: Every journey, trigger, and campaign had to be built or configured by IT before it could go live, regardless of how small the change was.
- Queue-Dependent Launches: A campaign didn't launch when marketing was ready — it launched when IT had an opening. A one-day idea could sit for a week and a half before anyone touched it.
- No Reusable Starting Point: Each campaign got built from scratch. Nothing from a past launch carried over, so the same setup work happened again every time.
- Content Bottleneck: Writing and assembling campaign content added another layer of lead time on top of the technical build, further slowing anything marketing wanted to ship.
The Solution
Our Dynamics team handed journey management back to the people running the campaigns.
Self-Service Journey Management
Marketing no longer needs an engineering ticket to build or adjust a journey:
- Self-Service Journey Configuration: Marketing now builds, edits, and launches journeys and triggers directly inside Dynamics 365. IT is no longer part of that process.
- Reusable Campaign Templates: We built a library of templates for common campaign types. A new launch starts from something that already works instead of a blank page.
Faster Content Production
We also closed the gap on the content side. The technical rebuild wasn't the only bottleneck.
- Copilot-Assisted Content Creation: Marketing now drafts campaign copy and creative variations with Copilot inside Dynamics 365. First drafts that used to take days now take an afternoon.
The Results
Marketing can now launch on its own timeline instead of IT's:
- 52% Reduction in Campaign Launch Time:
Self-service journeys and reusable templates mean a campaign goes live without waiting for an open slot on the engineering calendar. - No Added Operational Load:
IT's queue didn't get longer to make this possible. The work moved to marketing without creating a new bottleneck somewhere else. - Faster Content Turnaround:
Copilot-assisted drafting shortened the time between having an idea and having something ready to launch. - Repeatable Campaign Structure:
Reusable templates mean a new campaign starts from a tested setup, not a rebuild — the same configuration work doesn't happen twice.
